Trey’s Women’s Wrestling Roundabout

aiw

Well I am sure that you, like me, have been spending every waking moment either watching the New Edition miniseries or the ‘cash me ousside’ memes – there has also been some great women’s wrestling going on, as well as some great women’s wrestling coming up….and hey, I’m gonna tell you about it.

  • At RISE 2 – ASCENT, all sorts of stuff happened, check it:
    • Desi De Rata defeated Jewells Malone
    • Sage Sin defeated Allie Kat
    • Rosemary (from Impact/TNA) defeated Samara
    • Saraya Knight defeated Layne Rosario, then she went on to defeat our friend Kikyo
    • Ruby Raze defeated Hawlee Layne
    • Mercedes Martinez defeated Shotzi Blackheart – I need to buy the DVD just to see this one
    • Britt Baker defeated Chelsea Green – giving her back to back victories over Chelsea in as many weeks
    • Angel Dust defeated Delilah Doom to retain her Phoenix of RISE title
    • After that match, Angel Dust and Rosemary beat up Delilah as it seems that Angel Dust is a nice girl no more, and I completely dig the transformation
  • The next night at the AWS show also in Southgate, California:
    • Angel Dust defeated Britt Baker to retain her Phoenix of RISE title – these two once teamed at IWC so is different to see them up against one another
    • Shotzi Blackheart and Delilah Doom defeated Jewells Malone and Katarina Leigh, tell ya what, Shotzi and Delilah have loads of personality between the both of them, so that is one highly charismatic team there
    • Hudson Envy, Christina Von Eerie, and Saraya Knight defeated Ruby Raze, Sage Sin, and Rosemary – talk about a dream six woman tag match right there wow
    • Mercedes Martinez defeated Chelsea Green
  • Stardom results from their January 29th card include some of the following highlights:
    • Shayna Baszler, Deonna Purrazzo, and Christi Jaynes defeated Viper, Kagetsu, and Kris Wolf – is there anywhere that Purrazzo will not show up?
    • Kay Lee Ray defeated Jungle Kyona
    • Kairi Hojo defeated Nixon Newell

  • Britt Baker has been added to the SHIMMER lineup for the April show and July events
  • Kellyanne and Santana Garrett are on the SHIMMER roster for the April 1st show in Orlando
  • Cherry Bomb is also on the April SHIMMER card, as well as the Queen of Spades Shayna Baszler
  • Due to a work project, I will not be at RISE/SHIMMER weekend in July so am counting on the rest of you to show up, support, cheer, harass Tessa Blanchard, run up bar tabs, and enjoy a great weekend of women’s wrestling
  • aiwDon’t want to wait until April or July – AIW in Cleveland has you covered with their Girl’s Night Out 19 card, some of the matches announced thus far include
    • Britt Baker vs Gail Kim – I think this is their first match ever – let the record state I was the first one to blog about Britt back in the fall of 2015 – I’ve got an eye for talent and she is more than determined to make her mark on the women’s wrestling scene
    • Veda Scott vs Penelope Ford – I’ve never seen Penelope so looking forward to this one
    • Angel Dust vs Shotzi Blackheart for the Phoenix of RISE championship – can Shotzi be the first one to defeat Angel Dust in RISE, they both debuted in SHIMMER together, is only fitting that they finally go against one another
    • Karen Q vs Kiera Hogan – Kiera is definitely the girl on fire, more on that later…
    • Shayna Baszler vs Allysin Kay for Baszler’s AIW women’s title – I’ve got the Queen of Spades being dethroned in this match and AK capturing the AIW women’s title for the second time in her career
  • WSU had their 10th anniversary show on February 11th and there were loads of amazing matches on this one, here are the results:
    • Renee Michelle defeated Angelus Layne
    • Missy Sampson, KC Spinelli, and Xandra Bale defeated Annie Social, Brittany Blake, and Samantha Heights
    • Leva Bates beat Terra Calaway
    • The Fella Twins defeated Penelope Ford and Maria Manic
    • Kiera Hogan defeated Su Yung and Veda Scott to win the WSU Spirit title – like I had mentioned, Kiera is a girl that is on fire right now and she has the matching ring gear to prove it  – keep an eye on her folks and see her all you can so you can say you saw her when…
    • Jordynne Grace defeated Britt Baker
    • Jade beat Lufisto in what I am hearing was the match of the night – and I predicted this would be match of the night a column or two ago so no real surprise there
    • Mercedes Martinez defeated Allie to win the WSU Championship – which begs the question – is any title safe from Trifecta?  Does not look like it.
  • IWC will have two women’s matches on their Hooven Ground card at the end of February, as Britt Baker defends her IWC Women’s Title against newcomer Katie Arquette, and Samantha Heights returns to IWC to face another newcomer, Jinx
  • qocOne of the tag teams announced for the upcoming Queens of Combat tag team tournament on February 18th include the return of the Lucha Sisters – Leva Bates and Jade!!!
  • I tell you another team to look out for in that QOC tag tournament, is the one of Rachael Ellering and Nevaeh – a young up and comer with pedigree plus a respected veteran with plenty left to give…though I’ve got the Lucha Sisters taking the tournament, Ellering and Nevaeh are my dark horses
  • Made it out to the Ring of Honor Steel City Excellence card this past weekend and was treated to a great Women of Honor match as the ever sinister Taeler Hendrix defeated a very game Jenny Rose
  • Tell you about another good match I got to see recently, I made it out to Dayton’s Rockstar Pro Wrestling fifth anniversary event, and Samantha Heights defeated Jeremiah in a hardcore match – and there was no shortage of hardcore in this one as Samantha took some rough spots, being launched violently against the rail only to come back and dish it out as rough as any one can in a match like this, including a nice boot laced with thumbtacks she put on for a short bit….wouldn’t mind seeing Samantha vs Su Yung vs Saraya in a straight up no frills anything goes hardcore match with every bell and whistle one can imagine – it’d be brutal

  • ECCW has released two of its combatants for their 17th annual Pacific Cup – as both Nicole Matthews and my favorite Joshi Slayer, Cat Power herself, will be looking to win the cup this year – all bias included – I’m totally pulling for Cat Power in this one
  • Congratulations are in order to Braxton Sutter and Laurel Van Ness on their wedding engagement, they are registered at Pro Wrestling Tees and GNC….
